Kemaman Hospital has been designated as a Major Specialist Hospital since the 9th Malaysia Plan (RMK-9) and is also recognized as a First Responder Hospital due to its location in a high-risk disaster zone. It provides healthcare services to the residents of Kemaman and Dungun districts, as well as northern Pahang.

The hospital serves as a referral center for 9 government health clinics and more than 20 private clinics in the Kemaman district, including Rantau Petronas Clinic and Perwaja Clinic.

With the upgrading of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) flooring using Polyflor vinyl, which features Polyurethane Reinforcement (PUR) for added protection, it is hoped that the hospital can better meet the needs of patients in the surrounding areas.
